The New Zealand Public Transport Design Guidance will provide regional and local councils with best-practice guidance.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency developed the draft guidance collaboratively with an industry reference group. The guidance currently focuses on infrastructure, with further key topics expected to become available over the next year.
The Bus Stop topic of the draft Public Transport Design Guidance (PTDG) is now available for feedback, along with the existing sections on:
- getting to and from public transport
- corridor clearance
- bus layover and driver facilities, and
- bus dimensions for design.
Waka Kotahi will be formally accepting feedback until July 2023, after which the guidance will go through a final review and ratification process.
Additional sections of the guidance are expected to become available over the next year, and will follow a similar timeline for feedback, review and ratification.
