The Disabled Persons Assembly (DPA) New Zealand is a membership-based pan-impairment Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO). Our governance and staff members are predominantly disabled people based around the country.

We have a vision of a society which provides both equity and maximum opportunity to participate for all people. Our work includes working with different communities and giving advice to local and national government. We work within a human rights framework, honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and uphold the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

Mahi Tika - Equity in Employment is a disabled-led employment programme developed by DPA. Mahi Tika - Equity in Employment is running in the Waikato region until August 2022.

We are seeking a Kaiwhakahaere Kaupapa | Project Manager who will plan, organise, implement, and evaluate the day-to-day operation of Mahi Tika – Equity in Employment while supervising a team of Kaitiaki – Enhancers who work directly with disabled people participating in the programme.

We are interested in hearing from people with the relevant skills. We are flexible with the number of hours you can work, ideally 30-40 hours per week.

We are keen to hear from you if you:

  • are based in the Waikato region;
  • identify as disabled;
  • have knowledge of the disabled community at local, regional, national levels;
  • have understanding of and commitment to a disability rights approach;
  • have knowledge and understanding of the UNCRPD, NZ Disability Strategy, Enabling Good Lives principles and Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • have an ability to manage project timelines and budgets;
  • have an ability to prepare progress reports;
  • have well-developed relationship building and people management skills; and
  • have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
