The Election Access Fund Te Tomokanga Pūtea Whakatapoko Pōtitanga is now open for applications (woohoo!).

The purpose of the Election Access Fund is to reduce cost barriers faced by disabled people by covering disability-related costs which non-disabled candidates do not face.

Disabled people seeking selection or standing as a candidate in a parliamentary general election or by-election will be able to apply for a grant from the Fund to help cover their costs.

The Fund can be used to pay for disability related costs during selection or campaigning, for example accessible transport to events or meetings, or specialist equipment.

The Electoral Commission consulted with disabled people, Disabled People’s Organisations, political parties, and other interested groups, before finalising how the fund would be managed.

An advisor is available to assist applicants through the process, including in identifying what they might need funding for.

For more including on the application process and to apply see the Electoral Commission's Election Access Fund page.
