Autism NZ is holding a Prepare to Vote pop-up event for anyone who would benefit from extra preparation for voting in a building designed to be a positive space for people with sensory needs.

When: Thursday 28 September, 5.00pm – 7.00pm
Where: Autism Resource Centre, 20 Sydney Street, Petone, Wellington
RSVP: People are welcome to simply turn up, but RSVPs are welcome. Email: communications@autismnz.org.nz

The team from the Electoral Commission will set up a voting screen identical to those available at voting places. There will also be a ballot box, mock voting papers, enrolment forms and an electoral roll and some Easy Read guides on how to enrol and vote.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about what will happen on election day, and any other information needed. Autism NZ staff will also be in attendance for any support needed, and low sensory spaces are available for those who need a break.

The voting screen and papers will also be set up the following day (Friday 29 September) from 10am – 1pm for those who cannot make the evening event.
