On 15 September the government launched Te Rautaki Matihiko mō Aotearoa - The Digital Strategy for Aotearoa and its first Action Plan.

The Strategy aims to secure Aotearoa New Zealand’s place as a world-leading, trusted, thriving digital nation. The action plan provides a roadmap for the government’s implementation of the Strategy.

The Strategy is centred around 3 key themes:

  • Mahi Tika — Trust
  • Business and individuals/families are able to trust and feel safe using digital technology
  • Mahi Tahi — Inclusion
  • Everyone is able to access information without the barrier of cost
  • Mahi Ake — Growth
  • Enabling business to remain competitive and grow in the digital space

The  Action Plan sets out concrete actions that will advance the strategy. It describes 11 flagship initiatives and briefly highlights examples of other activities that will contribute to implementing the strategy such as the Digital Inclusion Action plan.
