Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People currently have three Enabling Good Lives (EGL) roles available, one each based in Waikato, Selwyn, and in Ōtautahi / Christchurch.


Waikato Tuhono/Connector

As Tuhono/Connector you will be responsible for working directly with disabled children, adults and their families and whānau to assist them to achieve Enabling Good Lives outcomes.  The key to sustainable outcomes in this role will be your ability to listen to the aspirations and preferences of disabled people and their families and whānau and assist them to think about the options they have at the moment and what they could do that is new and different.

As the face of the organisation, you are able to call on your influencing ability to build and maintain working relationships with disability networks, families, whanau, hapu and iwi as well as stakeholders and the wider community.

Selwyn and Ōtautahi / Christchurch Connectors/Kaitūhono

The Connector/Kaitūhono role is to assist disabled people and whānau to think about options, create possibilities and make decisions about their lives and the resources and connections that would enable them to attain their life objectives.

They will work proactively in people’s homes, schools and communities to develop relationships with disabled people and whānau, and assist them to be aspirational in planning and directing their own lives.
