The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) are looking for a Senior Policy Analyst to join their Disability Policy team.

The Disability Policy team provides strategic policy advice. It is responsible for a broad range of policy issues impacting disabled people and whānau, collaborates closely with the Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People and the Office for Disability Issues, and provides advice to both the Minister for Disability Issues and the Minister for Social Development and Employment. The team is part of the International, Disability, and Multigenerational Group within MSD’s Policy Branch.

The team is currently leading work on accessibility and have introduced legislation to the House. Alongside this, the team is responsible for policy work on the Carers Strategy and Mahi Aroha – the Carers Action Plan and amending the New Zealand Sign Language Act.

They also provide policy advice on Community Participation, provide an Enabling Good Lives and disability lens across MSD as well as contributing to work across government to support consideration of disabled people and their whānau in policy advice.
