Go, in the name of the Devil, Go! Verb Gala Night: Flight

Crip the Lit co-founder Trish Harris is one of ta team of writers who explore the theme of flight in a celebration of this year’s festival theme of ‘coven’.

Toil and Trouble

Artist and writer Jo Randerson speaks with three exceptional women about their working lives and the challenges that shaped them, including Robyn Hunt ONZM, accessibility activist, writer, former Human Rights Commissioner, former journalist and co-founder of Crip the Lit.

This event will be translated by New Zealand Sign Language interpreters.

Writing Resistance: The Problem with Fairytales

Writers from the Crip the Lit collective take on ableism in fairytales. From saccharine Disney versions to the deep cultural stories that traverse powerful archetypes, they uncover the true power of magical stories.

The Shape of Sound, Fiona Murphy

Writer and accessibility activist Robyn Hunt speaks to poet and essayist Fiona Murphy about her book 'The Shape of Sound'. In her memoir, Fiona Murphy reveals her observations of the ways in which politics, economics and societal expectations impact on deafness and disability experiences.

A Movement Of Story | Pūrākau Reo Rotarota

Six extraordinary performers share true stories in New Zealand Sign Language in an evening that celebrates our third official language. With live interpretation for hearing audience members and audio description available. Featuring Joanne Klaver, Whiti Ronaki, Sonia Pivac and Nirvana Graham. Curated and hosted by Jared Flitcroft.
