DPA made a submission to the Electricity Authority about the Consumer Care Guidelines.
DPA's position on the Consumer Care Guidelines is that they are not delivering on their intended outcomes. We support the updating of these guidelines to make their application mandatory across all retailers.
Our recommendations include having power retailers ask for and record health conditions/impairments of their customers and reviewing the criterion for medical dependency with disabled people and disability organisations.
We also recommended the Authority investigate and consult on the following issues as soon as possible: disconnection fees, prepay prices, the lack of public data on disconnections, including prepay disconnections.
