NZ Income Insurance Scheme (NZIIS) Proposal

DPA provided written feedback on the NZISS proposal further to previously meeting with MBIE staff NZIIS proposal to discuss the proposal.

DPA commented on a number of areas including:

• Any NZIIS must complement well-funded and equitable social welfare
• Disabled people must have equitable access to any NZIIS
• Proposed 50% threshold is too high
• Support for reasonable accommodation needed
• Further clarity needed around implementation
• Disability representation on governance of NZIIS essential
